Affordability Calculator
Newcastle has changed the way that it assesses how much applicants can borrow and whether they can afford the loan amount requested. This is now based on an assessment of the clients income and expenditure rather than our previous method of calculating and applying income multiples. We believe this is a fairer and more appropriate way to assess affordability.
To see how much your clients can borrow, and whether they can afford the amount requested, please complete our affordability calculator.
Please note:
- If you have any questions regarding the use of the calculator please check our frequently asked questions section.
- If you are satisfied that the calculator confirms the amount requested is affordable, you can submit the application in line with our normal process for How to Apply.
- You can print and keep a copy of the Affordability Assessment Result for your own records. You may find this useful in case there are any queries at a later stage.
- Once we receive your client's application we will repeat the calculation and may repeat it again depending on any subsequent information received.
- The application and assessment of affordability is for guidance purposes only and subject to our wider lending policy. We may therefore not be able to proceed with the application either at all or at the amount requested.
- The calculator is now suitable for Help to Buy calculations.
If the calculator provides a lower amount than that requested and you would wish to discuss further please contact our Intermediary Support team on 0345 602 2338.
